World Health Day: Clergyman Tasks FG on Improved Health Facilities, Better Welfare For Medical Workers

As Nigerians join the rest of the world in marking the 2024 World Health Day with the theme; “My health, My Right,” a Clergyman, Dr. Ojewole Olugoke have called on the Federal Government to improve health facilities and to take good care of medical practitioners in the country.

 

He made the call as in a message to mark the day in Bida local government area of Niger State.

The Clergyman said, citizens has the right to enjoy God service health care, even as they appeal to the government to put in place the necessary infrastructure that will boost the health care system in the country.

 

“As it is now, accessing health facilities in Nigeria is difficult due to lack of commitment form the part of the government of the day. Our political office holders are focusing outside the country to go for checkup neglecting the facilities in Nigeria and not taking good care of health workers”.

 

Dr. Ojewole Olugoke, who is a consultant Pediatrician at the Federal Medical Centre Bida,  said health is a fundamental human right that every citizens should enjoy.

 

Dr. Olugoke use the day to call on the Federal government to make health care accessible for all Nigerians irrespective of their domain.

 

“It is a call to those in leadership to make sure that every citizen has access to quality health care services and that can be done through adequate budgetary allocation, note everyone in the Nation can japa to other country to access better health care services, we are calling on those in authority to ensure that those working in health care agencies should be well treated in order to reduce the japa syndrome among health workers in the country”.

 

To address the types of challenges, the theme for world heath day 2024 is ‘My health, my right’.

 

This year’s theme was chosen to champion the right of everyone, everywhere to have access to quality health services, education, and information, as well as safe drinking water, clean air, good nutrition, quality housing, decent working and environmental conditions, and freedom from discrimination.
