The Vice Chancellor of Salem University, Lokoja, Professor Alewo Akubo, has announced that all arrangements have been concluded for the institution’s 7th Convocation Ceremony, scheduled to hold between Thursday, November 20 and Sunday, November 23, 2025.
Professor Akubo, who made the announcement in a statement issued on behalf of the Chancellor, Dr. Sam Amaga, said the convocation, tagged “The Release of Change Agents 2025,” will feature a series of activities aimed at celebrating academic excellence and character formation among the university’s graduating students.
According to him, the programme will begin on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 12:00 noon, with the Convocation Lecture to be delivered by Professor John Alfa, a renowned Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The lecture, which will take place at the Convocation Arena, will focus on the topic: “Access to Healthcare in Nigeria: Contemporary Realities and Pathways to Universal Health Coverage.”
The Vice Chancellor noted that the lecture would offer an in-depth analysis of the country’s healthcare system and explore strategies for achieving universal health coverage. He added that participants at the event will include policymakers, academics, students, and other stakeholders in the education and health sectors.
Professor Akubo further disclosed that the highlight of the week-long event will be the Convocation Ceremony on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at the Convocation Arena, Salem University, Lokoja. During the event, deserving students will receive degrees and academic awards in recognition of their hard work, discipline, and commitment to the university’s core values.
He added that the ceremonies will conclude with a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at 8:00 a.m., at the Chapel of Peace within the university campus. The service, he said, would be a time of gratitude and reflection on the university’s journey and achievements.
Reaffirming the institution’s mission, Professor Akubo emphasized that Salem University remains committed to producing graduates who are intellectually sound, morally upright, and spiritually grounded, noting that the forthcoming convocation symbolizes the release of another set of “change agents” equipped to make meaningful contributions to national and global development.
