Kogi State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), has called on the people of Okun to adopt a strategy to secure the governorship seat in 2031.
Commander Omodara made the call at the Okun Development Association (ODA) Stakeholders Summit held in Abuja.
Omodara emphasized the need for Kogi West Senatorial District, dominated by Okun people, to partner with the Central Senatorial District.
He cited that Eastern Senatorial District’s long hold on the governorship seat until former Governor Yahaya Bello took office by divine intervention.
He advised that waiting for 2027 is unrealistic and urged Okun people to be patient, supportive, and cooperative with Governor Usman Ododo’s administration, stressing Okun will produce the next Kogi State Governor in 2031.
Omodara highlighted security’s importance in Nigeria, citing banditry and land grabbing in North Central and North West zones.
He urged landowners to know who to sell their lands to and said some bandits want to surrender but the state government insists on taking them out.
Omodara praised the state government’s security efforts, citing advanced technologies like IMSI and DRONE.
He called for a change of mindset and urged citizens to report security concerns to relevant agencies.
Dignitaries who attended the summit included Amb. Rotimi Akenson, President-General of ODA; Prince Olushola Akanmode; Professor Emeritus Olu Obafemi; Professor Erelu Ronke Bello; ODA Vice President North, Otunba Olayinka Braimoh; Hon.
