The Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, has emerged Nigeria’s best performer in education quality for 2026, scoring 62.1 on a 100-point index, according to data released by NigeriaPolls under its #Statisense series.
Lagos State came second with 58.4 points, while Oyo (55.2), Osun (54.8) and Ekiti (53.1) completed the top five.

Ogun State ranked sixth with 52.7, followed by Anambra (51.9), Rivers (51.2), Delta (50.8) and Akwa Ibom (50.1). Enugu (49.5) and Cross River (48.9) rounded out the 12 listed states.
The South-West accounted for five of the 12 positions, the highest of any zone. The South-South followed with four states, the South-East had two, while the FCT was the only North-Central entry. No state from the North-East or North-West made the list.
The ranking was based on five indicators: adult literacy rate, net enrollment rate, pupil-teacher ratio, school density and examination performance.
The gap between the FCT at the top and Cross River at number 12 stands at 13.2 points.
