Kogi State Government says it has earmark about $20m for the empowerment of women in the State.
Commissioner of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Asiwaju Idris Asiru made this known at a Roundtable programme organized by Okun Ladies Association (O.L.A) held in Lokoja.
Asiwaju Asiru said the women empowerment programme tagged “Nigeria for Women Project” will commence soon, saying the fund is already on ground.
According to him, officials have going going round the state to enrol women across the 21 Local Government Area of the State ahead of the commencement of the Project.
He stated that the Project is aimed at assisting women to promote their businesses as well as ameliorate their sufferings occasioned by the economic hardship.
The Commissioner, who pledged N5m on behalf of the State Government to the Association, commended Okun Women for the effort in promoting the ideals of Okun Culture and Tradition.
