The Delta State Executive Committee (SEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has voiced its concerns regarding recent actions taken by the State Chairman, Elder Omeni Sobotie.

In a letter dated March 19, 2025, addressed to the National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the SEC members expressed dismay over a petition Sobotie submitted without their consultation or approval.

The contentious petition, dated March 17, 2025, called for the removal of the National Publicity Secretary (NPS), Barr. Felix Morka, alleging gross abuse of office.

However, the recent letter from certain SEC members suggests that this petition may not have undergone the usual consultative processes within the committee.

They describe the allegations against Morka as potentially lacking sufficient substantiation and emphasize the importance of adhering to the APC’s established procedures.

One of the key points in Sobotie’s petition was Morka’s issuance of a press statement clarifying that the National Working Committee (NWC) had not approved the creation of a Delta State APC Leadership Council.

The SEC members’ letter supports Morka’s clarification, stating that it was necessary to address potential misunderstandings arising from earlier communications. Additionally, they note that there is no verifiable evidence to support claims that Morka declared Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as the leader of the party in Delta State.

The SEC members also express concerns regarding internal party management, highlighting the need for regular meetings and collaborative decision-making processes. They emphasize the importance of maintaining the party’s integrity and ensuring that all actions align with the APC’s core values and constitution.

In their letter, the SEC members call upon the NWC to consider appropriate measures to address the situation, suggesting that a review of leadership practices within the state chapter may be warranted.

The SEC members advocated for actions that would promote unity and uphold the party’s credibility in Delta State.
