The Provost of Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa, Dr Paul Femi Fashagba, has donated 15 solar-powered street lights to communities in Ijumu Oke, Kogi State, as part of efforts to improve security and boost economic activities in the district.

The lights were presented to on behalf of the Provost by Hon. Gbenga Oshoke, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Grassroots Mobilization 6 Wards of the District.

Dr. Fashagba said the gesture was part of a broader plan to light up the entire Ijumu Oke district, adding that access to basic infrastructure remained critical to the social and economic development of the people.

“This is just the beginning of our commitment to ensuring that no community in this district is left in darkness. Access to basic infrastructure like street lighting is critical not only for security but also for the social and economic development of our people,” he said.

He said the project was inspired by the need to address the lighting challenges faced by residents, many of whom had relied on personal generators or gone without electricity at night for years.

The Provost called on the Wards to support the government of the day at both State and Federal levels.

Representatives of the communities commended Fashagba for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful.

They called on other political office holders agencies, corporate organisations and individuals to support similar projects to bridge infrastructure gaps in rural communities across the state
