In a proactive move to bolster the security architecture of Ijumu Local Government, the Chairman, Alh. Haruna Ibrahim convened a high-level security meeting with key stakeholders and Kogi State Vigilante Service (KSVS), local hunters, Heads of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
Speaking at the meeting, the Chairman emphasized the importance of a coordinated security strategy, stressing the need for synergy among all security formations to ensure lasting peace and stability within the local government.
Alh. Haruna charged Vigilantes, Local hunters and Conventional Security Agencies to take the fight against insecurity to the hideout of criminals.
He emphasized that structured mechanisms for intelligence-sharing, rapid response, and enhanced surveillance are crucial to address emerging security challenges effectively.
Discussions focused on critical security concerns, including: Farmers-herders relations and conflict mitigation strategies, Regulation of scrap dealers and scavengers to curb criminal activities, Strengthening community policing for grassroots security engagement and Improving the welfare and operational capacity of local security personnel.
A key highlight of the meeting was the commitment to improving the welfare of security operatives, recognizing their pivotal role in safeguarding lives and property.
The Chairman reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to supporting security personnel through the provision of mobility, logistical support, and welfare enhancements.
In their remarks, security personnel expressed deep appreciation for the Chairman’s proactive leadership and commitment to security, acknowledging his consistent support in facilitating their operations.
