The Local Government Education Authority of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC) have welcomed a total of 965 pupils from private schools back to public schools.

In an event to mark their enrollment at the Professor Yemi Osibanjo Mega school in Maiduguri, the Education Secretary of MMC, Dr. Umar Goni said their enrollment is an evidence of the visible positive changes which cut across infrastructure, quality teacher recruitment, payment of good incentives to teachers, among others in public schools.

According to him, the effort of Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum in ensuring free and quality education to school students is enough to prevent parents from taking their children to other places where they might pay more for education.

He however noted that the spaces still available for enrollment and registration are limited, while noting that if parents do not hurry up to enjoy the benefits and the spaces become filled, the public schools will close further registration and enrollment.

Also speaking, the representative of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Hauwa Goma commended the Local government Authorities for their relentless efforts in sustaining and protecting the image of public schools in Borno State.
