The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has commenced Phase 8 of its Constituency and Executive Projects Tracking Exercise in Katsina State, monitoring 39 projects valued at N13.5bn across the state’s three senatorial districts and federal constituencies, The Punch reports.

The exercise is being conducted under the supervision of the Director of Operations, Ludam Samuel.

The tracking team, comprising officers from the commission’s headquarters and the Katsina State office, is collaborating with representatives of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors and members of the media to ensure accountability, value for money, and strict compliance with project specifications.

Speaking during the exercise on Friday in Katsina, Samuel said the commission had recorded mixed findings so far.

“So far, we are satisfied in some projects, while in others the contractors will be mandated to return to the site to remedy the gaps identified.

“The team has inspected several health facility projects within the Katsina metropolis, as well as road projects in Funtua and Kankia. Water supply schemes were also tracked in Kurfi, Dutsin-Ma, Mashi and Dutsi Local Government Areas of the state,” he stated.

“In the education sector, school projects were monitored in Kafur, Sandamu, Daura and Mai’Adua Local Government Areas.

“The team also assessed the installation of solar-powered streetlights and reviewed various empowerment programmes implemented across the state,” he added.

PUNCH Online reports that the Phase 8 tracking exercise, which commenced on Monday, forms part of the commission’s nationwide initiative to strengthen transparency and ensure that constituency projects funded with public resources are properly executed for the benefit of citizens
